About Onda

Design

Onda is a mirror with a clear point of view: a single panel shaped into an undulating silhouette, like an architectural element pulled into motion. The outline is graphic and precise, but it never feels rigid. And that tension is the appeal. It reads as a simple mirror from a distance, then becomes more sculptural as the edge line comes into focus.

Designed by Alessandro Mendini, the piece carries a quiet wit without turning into a statement for its own sake. It is decorative, yes, but it still behaves like a mirror first. The wave shape brings presence to a wall that might otherwise feel flat.

Materials & build

As a mirror, the material story is intentionally restrained. There is no added ornament, no layered detailing to distract from the form. What stands out instead is the clean execution of the contour and the way the reflective surface plays against that irregular perimeter.

Onda is offered as a standard product only; it is not available custom made. That keeps the proportions consistent with the original design intent and makes selection straightforward.

Scale & mounting

There are three sizes, each with a distinct attitude. SO01 measures about 55.1 inches wide by 31.5 inches high. SO02 is a more compact square format at about 31.5 by 31.5 inches. SO03 flips the emphasis vertically at about 19.7 inches wide by 63.0 inches high.

The mirror is available with a double fixture for vertical and horizontal installation, which makes the shape feel surprisingly different depending on how it is rotated. But the personality stays consistent: a controlled wave, never chaotic.

Comfort in daily use

Comfort here is visual and practical. The reflective field stays generous, and the perimeter adds character without stealing usable surface area. In the wider formats, it supports quick checks while moving through a space. In the tall version, it gives a more complete read of an outfit and posture.

And because the piece can be installed either way, it adapts to how people actually live, rather than asking a room to be arranged around it.

Placement, lifestyle, longevity

In an entry, Onda introduces a note of design without crowding the wall. In a bedroom or dressing area, the vertical option feels focused and calm. In a living room, it works like a reflective accent that softens hard lines and picks up ambient light.

From glasitalia, Onda is the kind of object that stays relevant because it is specific, not trendy. The design doesn’t rely on surface decoration that can date quickly. It simply holds its shape, and keeps doing its job, year after year.
