Design

Fiction is a series of wall mirrors by Jean-Marie Massaud, defined by a calm, graphic silhouette and a soft shift of light across the surface. The form stays slim and architectural, with a gentle depth off the wall that keeps it from feeling flat.

There are two sizes, each with the same clean proportion. In the smaller version, the degrading shade can be oriented upward or downward, so the mirror can read a little brighter at eye level or a little moodier, depending on the room and the time of day.

Materials & build

Each mirror is realized in extralight glass, finished with a degrading shaded silvering that moves from clearer reflection into a more muted, shaded zone. It’s a considered effect, not a pattern, and it stays understated even in bright spaces.

The mirror hangs on the wall with a back that’s glued in place, paired with a chromium-plated metal cylinder. The hardware becomes part of the design language: minimal, crisp, and intentionally visible without taking over.

Everyday experience

The shading changes how the mirror behaves in a room. It gives the reflection a softer edge in the shaded area, which can feel more forgiving in transitional spaces like hallways or bedrooms. And it adds depth without adding visual noise.

Because Fiction stays narrow in profile, it doesn’t compete with nearby art or lighting. It simply sharpens the atmosphere, catching movement and ambient light in a controlled way.

Placement & lifestyle

Two formats make it easy to place: FIC01 measures about 23.6 inches wide, 2.8 inches deep, and 41.3 inches high; FIC02 measures about 23.6 inches wide, 2.8 inches deep, and 70.9 inches high. Both read as vertical pieces, with a slender footprint that suits tighter walls.

In an entry, the taller size brings length and lift. In a bedroom or dressing area, the shorter height can sit comfortably above a console while still feeling substantial. Glas Italia keeps the offering straightforward: these pieces are not available custom made.

Longevity

Extralight glass and a clean metal support system are materials choices that age well in modern interiors. The finish is designed to look intentional over years, not trendy for a season.

For faster lead times, quick ship is available for FIC01 and FIC02. Fiction is built to stay relevant through moves and refreshes, working as a practical mirror and a quiet visual anchor.
