About Celeste
Design
Celeste is a mirror that plays with perception without trying too hard. Designed by Piero Lissoni for Glas Italia, it starts with a clean round or oval silhouette, then breaks the calm with three magnifying portholes set on the surface. Each porthole has its own diameter and its own level of magnification, so the reflection shifts as someone moves past it. And that slight distortion is the point: a magnetic, almost surreal effect that feels deliberate, not decorative.
The overall look stays understated. The composition is graphic and precise, but there’s still a sense of spontaneity when the room starts to “move” inside the glass.
Materials & Build
The mirror is made from 5 mm extralight glass, about 0.2 inches thick, chosen for clarity and a crisp, true reflection. The three magnifying elements are fixed directly onto a flat surface, so the piece reads as one clean plane rather than a collage of parts.
A delicate bevelled edge runs around the perimeter. It’s a quiet detail, but it changes the finish in a good way, catching light and giving the glass a more refined outline.
Everyday Use
Celeste works like a proper mirror first. It gives a clear view, then adds moments of zoomed-in focus that can be surprisingly useful for quick checks. But it’s not about perfect accuracy all the time. Those portholes can stretch and compress details, making the act of looking feel a little less routine.
It suits people who like design with personality, but who still want something composed. The effect is noticeable, yet it doesn’t dominate the room.
Placement & Lifestyle
Two configurations keep it flexible. CEL01 is a round version at approximately 43.3 inches in diameter, with a depth of about 1.2 inches. CEL02 is an oval format at roughly 34.3 inches wide by 63.0 inches high, also about 1.2 inches deep. Both feel substantial on the wall without looking heavy.
It fits naturally in an entry, a dressing area, or any space that benefits from a stronger visual moment. Quick Ship applies to CEL01 and CEL02, which makes planning simpler.
Longevity
The construction is straightforward, which helps it last: a single extralight mirror with securely fixed magnifying portholes and a bevel that protects the edge visually and physically. Celeste is not available custom made, so the proportions stay exactly as intended.
With normal care for glass surfaces, it holds its clarity and its impact. It’s the kind of piece that still feels interesting after the first week, because the room never reflects the same way twice.
