Brillante

Design

Brillante is a series of mirrors designed by Alessandro Mendini, built around the idea that a mirror can be more than a clean outline. Each piece is shaped rather than simply framed, with engraved decorations that catch light and add depth without turning the surface into a pattern-heavy statement. The look stays graphic and precise, but it still has personality. And because the silhouette does a lot of the work, the mirror reads well from across the room, not only up close.

There are three formats, each with its own presence. SBR01 measures about 35.4 inches wide by 46.5 inches high. SBR03 is a round version at roughly 31.5 inches in diameter. SBR04 goes vertical at about 23.6 inches wide by 64.6 inches high.

Materials & build

The series is made in shaped crystal, finished with engraved decoration. That combination gives Brillante its signature character: crisp reflection paired with detailing that feels integrated, not applied. The engraving has a controlled, deliberate quality, the kind that looks consistent in daylight and still reads at night under warmer lamps.

Brillante is not available custom made, which keeps the collection focused. The proportions are set, the shapes are intentional, and the decorative work remains consistent across the range. For those who like knowing what they are buying, the technical sheet and assembly instructions are provided.

Comfort

A mirror’s comfort is visual, and Brillante handles it well. The crystal surface is clear and direct, while the engraved decoration adds a soft layer of interest around the reflection. It avoids distraction in the center where it matters most, but it doesn’t feel plain. And it brings a subtle sense of structure to a wall, which can make a space feel more settled.

Placement & lifestyle

In an entry, SBR04’s tall format works as a daily check-in point without taking over the room. In a bedroom or dressing area, the same vertical piece brings height and a cleaner line than a wide mirror. SBR01 suits living rooms and hallways where a horizontal proportion balances a console or a longer stretch of wall.

The round SBR03 is the quieter option. It sits comfortably above a sideboard, in a powder room, or anywhere a curved shape breaks up straight architecture. Brillante by glasitalia can read formal or relaxed depending on what surrounds it, which makes it easy to live with.

Longevity

The appeal here is not trend-driven. Crystal and engraving hold their value visually, even as interiors change. Brillante doesn’t rely on color or extra ornament to make an impression, so it adapts. And in typical glasitalia fashion, the focus stays on precision and finish, the things that still matter years later when the rest of the room has moved on.
