About Andromeda (1974)
Design
Andromeda (1974) returns as a re-launch of Nanda Vigo’s first mirror collection for Glas Italia, originally presented in 1974. The idea is simple and still sharp: a negative-positive surface where transparent areas alternate with mirrored sections. It changes as the room changes. And it never reads as just a flat reflection.
The collection comes in multiple shapes and proportions, from tall, vertical statements to compact squares and clean circles. The look stays consistent across the series, but each format lands differently on the wall. Some feel architectural. Others feel more graphic, almost like a framed piece that happens to reflect.
Materials & build
Each mirror plays with two finishes. There is a neutral version, and there is a distinctive amber-colored glass option. The contrast between clear and reflective parts is the point, not an extra detail, and it gives the surface a layered presence even when the mirror is not catching anything dramatic.
A hanging system is built in to allow installation at different inclinations. That small adjustment matters. It lets the mirror be tuned to the space, the light source, and the intended viewpoint, without forcing a rigid, perfectly upright placement.
Visual comfort
Andromeda is made to soften a room without blurring it. The alternating transparent and mirrored zones break up reflections, so the wall feels lighter and more dimensional. But it still functions as a mirror. The balance keeps it easy to live with day to day.
And because the angle can be set, glare and harsh reflections can be managed. A slight tilt can pull in more ceiling light, or keep the view focused on what matters in the room.
Placement & lifestyle
Scale is where this collection becomes practical. The tall format measures about 19.7 inches wide, 2.0 inches deep, and 59.1 inches high. A mid-sized rectangular option is about 25.6 inches wide, 2.0 inches deep, and 35.4 inches high. Square versions come in at roughly 31.5 inches by 31.5 inches, with the same 2.0-inch depth.
Circular pieces are offered in diameters of approximately 23.6 inches, 31.5 inches, and 35.4 inches, each at about 2.0 inches deep. This range makes it easy to place one piece in a quieter hallway, or build a stronger moment in a living area with a larger format.
Longevity
The strength of Andromeda is that it does not chase trends. It leans on proportion, light, and a clear graphic logic. And the option of neutral or amber glass lets it sit comfortably in both restrained interiors and more expressive ones.
It is not available custom made, which keeps the collection true to its original intent. The result feels edited, deliberate, and ready to live with for years.
