Design

Oltralpe is a storage piece built around reflection, but not the predictable kind. Its curved profiles soften the outline, while the mirrored surfaces keep the look crisp and architectural. The result is quiet at first glance, then a little surprising as light and movement change what the eye catches.

Designed by Inga Sempé, the form stays simple and controlled. But the reflections never sit still. They blur, bend, and break just enough to make the piece feel less like a mirror and more like an object with its own presence.

Materials & build

The structure is made in 6+6 mm laminated glass, fully mirrored on both the inside and the outside. It reads clean and seamless, with an all-around finish that feels intentional when doors are opened and closed. There’s no “backstage” side here.

The doors are 6 mm curved, tempered, and mirrored on both sides. Those curved panels create distorted, undefined reflections that keep the surface visually fluid instead of sharp and literal. And the doors close with Blumotion soft-close hardware. Cylindrical glass handles complete the front with a minimal, consistent gesture.

Everyday use

Oltralpe is tactile in a way mirrored pieces rarely are. The curved door edges and glass handles make opening feel natural, and the soft-close action keeps it calm in daily routines. No slamming, no fuss.

The double-sided mirror finish means the interior feels considered, not purely functional. It’s an easy detail to appreciate over time, especially in spaces where the piece is used often and seen up close.

Placement & lifestyle

Because the reflections are intentionally imperfect, the cabinet works in rooms that already have a lot going on. It doesn’t compete with art, textiles, or warm woods. It picks them up and edits them. In a hallway it stretches light. In a living space it adds depth without adding visual weight.

Two formats are available for quick ship. OLT01 measures about 37.8 inches long, 18.5 inches wide, and 37.4 inches high. OLT02DX and OLT02SX each measure about 17.3 inches long, 10.2 inches wide, and 21.7 inches high.

Longevity

Glas Italia builds Oltralpe with materials chosen for stability and daily resilience: laminated glass for the main body, tempered glass for the curved doors, and soft-close hardware that reduces long-term stress. The mirrored finish is not treated as a surface layer, but as the defining material.

Oltralpe is not available custom made, which keeps the design exact to its original intent. It’s a piece meant to stay consistent over the years, still relevant as the room around it evolves.
