About Magic Box
Design
Magic Box is a storage series by Glas Italia, designed by Piero Lissoni. The form is clean and architectural, built from glass panels joined at a precise 45° angle. It reads as a quiet volume in the room, but the mirrored doors add a controlled flash of light and reflection. And because the mirror is kept off the sides, the silhouette stays crisp instead of overly glossy.
The proportions are disciplined across the range. Width holds at about 17.7 inches, while lengths run from roughly 47.2 inches up to 95.3 inches. Heights vary from about 21.3 inches to 42.1 inches, so it can sit low and horizontal or stand taller without changing its character.
Materials & build
The exterior comes in tempered glass, offered in either glossy lacquered or opaque lacquered finishes. Inside, the tone shifts to a charcoal-colored laminated wood that keeps the contents visually calm and gives the glass shell a warmer counterpoint. Shelves are made from 10 mm transparent extra-light glass, so they stay almost invisible while still feeling substantial.
Doors close the compartments with a push-pull opening system for a handle-free front. Each door is covered in mirror on the face, keeping the look continuous when shut. Select models are supported either by a base with thin legs in glossy chromed metal or by two slabs of tempered extra-light glass, depending on the configuration.
Daily use
This is storage that behaves well in real life. Push once to open, push again to close, and the front stays uninterrupted. The mirrored surfaces help the piece feel lighter in a space, especially when placed opposite windows or near softer lighting.
For setups that need it, cable outlets can be provided in the base on request, available in the right compartment, the left, or both. But it’s not offered for every model, and Magic Box is not available custom made, so planning the right configuration from the start matters.
Placement & lifestyle
Magic Box works best where clean lines are appreciated: a living room that needs discreet media storage, a dining space that wants a refined sideboard, or a bedroom that benefits from closed compartments and a reflective finish. The consistent depth makes it easy to align with seating, walls, and circulation paths.
Longevity
Tempered glass and laminated interiors are made for long-term use, but the piece still asks for thoughtful handling. Keep the mirrored fronts looking sharp with simple, non-abrasive cleaning, and avoid harsh tools that can dull the lacquered surface. The result is a cabinet that stays composed year after year, with the kind of clarity that doesn’t go out of place.
