About Drift

Design

Drift by Glas Italia is storage that reads like an object, not just a cabinet. The silhouette is clean and precise, with sliding doors that keep the front calm. But the real character comes from the way the inner volume is treated: a black oak box sits partially inside the glass body and partially on top, so the mass appears to hover.

The contrast is immediate. Dark wood against extra-clear glass. Solid against airy. And because the oak element is fixed and partitioned, it feels intentional from every angle, not like an insert added later.

Materials & build

The structure is made from tempered, UV-bonded, acid-etched extra-clear glass. It has a soft, matte presence, not glossy, and it keeps reflections controlled. The doors slide within natural anodized aluminum profiles, giving the movement a clean track and a neat finish.

A silvered glass base brings light up into the piece, adding a quiet brightness from below. It’s a subtle detail, but it changes the way the whole volume reads in a room, especially when daylight shifts.

Use & ease

Storage is organized around that oak box. The partitioning creates a sense of order without needing extra accessories or visible hardware. And the sliding doors keep the front uncluttered, which suits spaces where circulation is tight or where a swing door would feel intrusive.

The experience is straightforward. Open, close, hide, reveal. The materials do the work, and the piece stays visually composed even when in use.

Placement & lifestyle

Drift comes in three configurations: 74.8" wide x 13.8" deep x 16.1" high, 31.5" wide x 13.8" deep x 51.6" high, and 31.5" wide x 13.8" deep x 31.9" high. That range makes it easy to place as a low, linear storage element or as a taller vertical accent, depending on the room’s rhythm.

Designed by Nendo, it fits interiors that prefer restraint but still want a point of view. It can sit quietly against a wall, or hold its own in a more open plan where the side view matters.

Longevity

Tempered glass, anodized aluminum, and black oak are all materials chosen for real life, not just the showroom. Surfaces feel resilient and considered, with edges and joins that look crisp over time.

Drift is not available custom made, which keeps the design exactly as intended. It’s a defined piece with a specific balance of proportion, contrast, and light.
