Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

About Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Design

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is a series of open storage pieces by Piero Lissoni, drawn with a clean, architectural calm. The profile is all clarity: flat planes, crisp edges, and a sense of volume without visual weight. It reads as shelving, a console, or a tall display element depending on scale, but the language stays consistent—quiet, precise, and confident.

The openness is the point. Nothing is hidden, so what goes inside becomes part of the composition. And because the structure is glass, the room still feels breathable. It can frame books and objects without turning them into clutter.

Materials & build

Each piece is made from laminated glass built in two layers of 0.2 in and finished with a shiny ground edge. The panels are thermo-welded, so the joints feel seamless and intentional rather than assembled. There’s a restraint to the detailing, but it’s not cold. It’s simply resolved.

Choices stay focused: transparent extralight glass for maximum clarity, or transparent coloured glass for a subtle shift in mood. Both keep the look crisp and contemporary, with light reflecting cleanly across the surfaces.

Use and everyday ease

As open storage, it’s straightforward to live with. Items are easy to reach, easy to edit, and easy to style. The glass surfaces give everything a clean outline, so even everyday pieces—magazines, barware, folded textiles—look a bit more considered. But it never feels precious; it’s meant to be used.

Placement and lifestyle

The collection spans several proportions, from compact to tall. There are versions at approximately 11.8 in L × 17.7 in W × 17.9 in H, and 23.6 in L × 17.7 in W × 17.9 in H. For vertical storage, there are taller options at about 11.8 in L × 17.7 in W × 77.0 in H and 23.6 in L × 17.7 in W × 77.0 in H.

For longer, room-defining pieces, there are also configurations around 47.2 in L × 17.7 in W, in heights of roughly 42.3 in and 21.5 in. These sizes make it easy to place Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in an entry, along a dining wall, behind a sofa, or as a light divider in an open plan.

Longevity

Glasitalia keeps the proposition simple: quality glass, careful finishing, and a design that doesn’t rely on decoration. The laminated build and thermo-welded construction are made for years of daily use, while the transparent palette helps it move with changing rooms, changing objects, and changing tastes.
