Hub tavoli bassi

About Hub tavoli bassi

Design

Hub tavoli bassi is a series of round low tables with a clear, architectural presence. The silhouette is simple: a clean disc of glass held above a precise cylinder, finished with a grounded foot. It reads quiet at first, then the details start to show. And that’s the point. Nothing feels extra, but nothing is casual either.

Designed by Piero Lissoni, the proportions are disciplined and easy to live with. Two configurations keep the look consistent while changing the stance: a 19.7-inch diameter top with either a 13.8-inch height (HUB06) or a 17.3-inch height (HUB11). Same attitude, different lift.

Materials & build

The top is tempered glass, 0.47 inches thick, supported by a base made from a hollow borosilicate glass cylinder. Underneath, a 0.47-inch thick glass foot adds ballast, giving the table a confident stability without visual weight. The top and the foot are available in glossy or opaque lacquered glass, letting the table shift from crisp shine to a more muted, velvety look.

The construction is designed to be taken apart when needed. The top can be disassembled and fixed to the base by means of rings in stainless steel anodized aluminum. It’s a considered, technical detail that stays out of sight in day-to-day use, yet makes the piece feel resolved.

Everyday comfort

Comfort here is about ease. The circular top offers generous surface area without sharp corners, so it works naturally beside seating and along circulation paths. The glass thickness gives a reassuring feel when setting down objects, from a book to a drink tray.

And because the base is visually light, the table doesn’t crowd the room. It keeps sightlines open, which matters in spaces where seating already does a lot of the visual work.

Placement and lifestyle

These tables slip into different roles without changing their character. Next to a sofa, the lower height reads classic lounge. In a reading corner or beside a bed, the taller version brings the surface closer to hand while keeping the same refined footprint.

In a larger room, pairing pieces creates a calm rhythm—repetition without fuss. In a tighter space, a single table is enough to add structure without adding bulk.

Longevity

Glass can feel delicate, but the choices here are purposeful: tempered glass for the top and borosilicate for the cylinder, with a weighted foot for stability. The lacquered finishes offer another layer of protection while keeping the look clean and intentional.

Custom made options are available through glasitalia, which helps the collection land correctly in real interiors. Hub keeps its appeal over time because it doesn’t chase a trend. It just stays precise, and it stays useful.
