Funghetti tavoli bassi

About Funghetti tavoli bassi

Design

Funghetti tavoli bassi is a small collection of round low tables designed by Piero Lissoni. The look is clean and intentional: a crisp circular top paired with a clear, sculpted base that reads light from across the room. It has presence without asking for attention.

The silhouette stays consistent across the two sizes, so the choice comes down to scale and height, not style. And because the base is transparent, the top seems to float. That simple visual trick makes the table feel easy in both modern and more layered interiors.

Materials & build

The top is tempered glass finished in either glossy lacquered glass or opaque lacquered glass. Both options keep the surface feeling polished and precise, with a smooth sheen that plays differently depending on lighting and surrounding materials. But the form remains the point: round, refined, and spare.

The base is molded and shaped transparent borosilicate glass. It is clear, crisp, and deliberately formed, giving the table its character without adding visual weight. Funghetti tavoli bassi is not available custom made, so the finishes and proportions stay exactly as designed.

Everyday use

These tables are built for the small rituals. A place for a book, a drink, a tray, or the objects that tend to follow a sofa or lounge chair. The lacquered glass top keeps the profile neat and easy to live with, while the round edge softens the overall feel.

The transparency of the base helps the table sit close to seating without making the area feel crowded. And the round top makes it feel natural to reach from different angles, especially in tighter living spaces.

Placement & lifestyle

Glasitalia offers the series in two dimensions. The larger configuration measures approximately 16.5 inches in diameter and 15.4 inches high. The smaller version is about 11.0 inches in diameter and 13.0 inches high. Both work well on their own, and they also layer neatly as a pair for a more dynamic composition.

Placed beside a sofa, near a reading chair, or set in front of a low seating arrangement, the table brings a clean surface without breaking sightlines. And because the base is glass, it works especially well in rooms where light, rugs, and flooring deserve to be seen.

Longevity

Tempered glass gives the top the kind of resilience expected in daily use, and borosilicate glass is known for its strength and clarity. The design does not rely on trend cues, so it stays relevant as surrounding pieces change. It is a straightforward, well-resolved object that can move from one room to the next and still feel right.
