Calice

About Calice

Design

Calice is a round side table by Piero Lissoni, drawn with a clean profile and a clear sense of proportion. The silhouette stays simple: a crisp circular top, a sculpted central base, and a matching glass foot that keeps the piece visually anchored. And because it comes in two heights, it can read as quietly supportive or a little more present in the room.

The look is restrained, but not plain. The base carries engraved surface decorations that catch light differently as someone moves past. It is that small shift in reflection that gives Calice its character without pushing for attention.

Materials & Build

The top and foot are made from tempered glossy lacquered glass, 0.31 inches thick. The finish is polished and reflective, with that lacquered depth that feels more tailored than standard glass. The base is shaped blown glass, then detailed with engraved patterns on the surface.

There is a clear contrast at play: precise, flat planes above and below, and a more dimensional center. But everything stays cohesive because the material language is consistent. Glas Italia keeps the construction focused on glass, not mixed-media tricks, so the table reads as intentional from every angle.

Comfort and Use

This is a table meant to be used without thinking too much about it. The round top feels easy around seating, with no corners to negotiate. And the glossy lacquered finish gives everyday objects a clean landing spot, whether it is a book, a drink, or a small tray.

The two sizes keep the experience flexible. Both share the same 19.69-inch diameter, while the heights shift the way the table meets a sofa or lounge chair.

Placement & Lifestyle

Calice works best where light can do its job. Near a window, beside a low chair, or next to a sofa, the engraved base picks up highlights and soft shadows that change through the day. In quieter rooms, it adds polish. In more layered spaces, it brings a moment of clarity.

There are two height options: 11.81 inches and 17.32 inches. That difference is enough to support different seating heights or to pair the two together for a relaxed, nested feel without forcing a set.

Longevity

Tempered glass brings confidence for daily living, and the lacquered finish keeps the surface looking composed. The blown-glass base is not trying to look rugged; it is meant to feel refined and considered, and it rewards a home that treats it with normal care.

Calice is not available custom made, which keeps the design true to the original proportions. It is a straightforward choice for clients who want a distinct Glas Italia piece and prefer decisions already made well.
