Aladin Pivot Plain Mono

About Aladin Pivot Plain Mono

Design

Aladin Pivot Plain Mono is a pivot door designed by Piero Lissoni, made to read as a clean plane rather than a typical framed door. The frame is concealed, so when it’s closed the look stays quiet and architectural. And because it’s a pivot system with adjustable hinge openings, the movement can be tuned to the space instead of forcing the space to adapt.

The detail that sets it apart is the way glass and aluminium meet. Glass is applied to one side of the aluminium frame to create one face that sits flush. Turn it around and the other face is subtly rebated from the perimeter, giving a refined edge without adding visual noise.

Materials & build

The structure is aluminium paired with certified safety glass, with choices that range from clear and extralight to patterned, fluted, acid-etched, lacquered, and reflecting finishes. There are also options like extralight glass with wide meshes or with fabrics, plus coloured transparent versions. Not every finish is available for every size, so selections should be confirmed.

Glass can be monolithic tempered in a single piece at about 0.24 inches thick, or laminated at about 0.12 + 0.12 inches. All glass options are certified to ANSI Z97.1 and UNI EN12150 safety regulations, which matters in real homes and high-traffic interiors, not just on paper.

Comfort in use

A pivot door should feel effortless. This one is built around controlled motion and clean handling, with the hinge opening adjustable to suit how the door is used day to day. But the experience is also about touch. Locks can be selected in different types, and the choice between a handle or a knob keeps the hardware aligned with the project, not the other way around.

Hardware is provided in the same finishes as the frame, so nothing looks added on at the last minute. The handle set is treated with a sanitizing varnish tested to ISO 22196:2011, helping counteract bacterial overgrowth and keep contact surfaces more hygienic.

Placement & lifestyle

Because the subframe is white painted aluminium and invisible when the door is closed, Aladin Pivot Plain Mono works well in spaces where walls and openings are meant to feel continuous. It suits both cement walls and plasterboard, and it can be varnished during wall painting so the installation stays visually integrated.

It’s the kind of door that fits contemporary residences, hospitality settings, and refined office interiors. And it handles transitions beautifully: open-plan to private, corridor to suite, public to personal.

Longevity

glasitalia builds this door as a custom-made system, and that approach shows in the finish alignment and the practical certification standards. The concealed subframe, durable aluminium structure, and safety-rated glass options are meant for long-term daily use.

It’s not trying to be flashy. It simply stays precise over time, keeps surfaces clean, and lets the architecture do the talking.
