Design

Marlene is a wall mirror collection by Philippe Starck that plays with reflection without turning the room into a funhouse. The shape is clean and architectural: a flat center and two lateral planes for a true image, then a curved section that shifts what it catches. And that distortion is the point. It feels spontaneous and a little unpredictable, changing as people move through the space.

The look stays restrained, even with the optical twist. It reads as a mirror first, then you notice the bend. That balance makes Marlene easy to live with, whether the setting is minimal or more layered.

Materials & build

Each piece starts as a slab of 6 mm extralight glass (about 0.24 inches), bent into form, then moulded and polished to a bright, ground finish. The surface is manually silvered, so the reflection stays crisp where it should, with the curved area introducing its own shifting perspective.

The back is offered in three finishes: pink, white, or silver. Glas Italia keeps the construction focused and precise, with no custom-made options for this collection.

Everyday use

In use, the mirror behaves in a satisfying way. The central area and side panels are dependable for a clear check on proportion and detail. But the curved band brings a softer, more playful read of the room. It can make a hallway feel less rigid or break up a very symmetrical wall.

Because the distortion is random, it never feels overly designed. It just adds movement, especially in spaces where light changes through the day.

Placement & lifestyle

Four sizes cover different needs, from compact to full-height. MAR01 measures about 29.5 x 4.7 x 30.3 inches, and MAR02 is about 39.4 x 6.7 x 22.0 inches. For a stronger vertical statement, MAR03 is about 37.4 x 7.9 x 72.8 inches, while MAR04 reaches about 59.1 x 13.4 x 72.8 inches.

MAR03 and MAR04 can also be placed on the floor using the supplied chromed feet, which keeps the setup flexible without changing the overall look.

Longevity

The materials and finishing are chosen for lasting clarity: extralight glass, careful polishing, and a silvered surface made to read cleanly over time. The result feels resilient in daily life, provided it’s treated like fine glass.
