Maestrale

About Maestrale

Design

Maestrale takes a familiar object and gives it a small twist that changes everything. The mirror is cut from a single sheet of glass, then gently undulated at both ends so the reflection starts to move. It reads like fabric caught by a breeze, or water with a light ripple. But it stays controlled, not theatrical.

The center remains perfectly flat. That’s the point. It keeps the mirror practical for everyday use, while the softened edges introduce a distortion that feels unexpected and a little playful. Designed by Piero Lissoni, the piece lands with a quiet confidence that suits both clean architecture and warmer, more layered rooms.

Materials & build

Each mirror is made from one sheet of extralight or blue glass and hand-silvered to create the reflective surface. The finish is crisp and clear, and the handwork is intentional, not fussy. There are no added frames, no extra parts that distract from the glass itself.

Maestrale is offered in two sizes, both slender in profile. MAE01 measures about 45.3 inches long, 4.3 inches wide, and 77.2 inches high. MAE02 measures about 45.3 inches long, 4.3 inches wide, and 35.4 inches high. Custom sizes are not available.

Everyday use

The flat center gives a reliable reflection for getting ready, checking proportions, or simply opening up a space. And the undulating ends add a second experience in the same glance. The room shifts slightly, light bends, and a simple pass-by becomes more interesting.

It is still a mirror first. The distortion stays at the edges, so it doesn’t interfere when someone wants a clear view. That balance makes it easy to live with, even in high-traffic spaces.

Placement & lifestyle

The mirrors can be hung in any direction, which makes styling straightforward. Horizontal placement can stretch a wall visually, while a vertical orientation reads more architectural. The longer MAE01 can also be placed on the floor using its supplied feet, a relaxed look that works well in bedrooms, dressing areas, or near an entry.

In the blue glass version, the reflection carries a subtle tone that can cool down bright interiors. In extralight, it stays clean and neutral, letting materials and color in the room do the talking. Maestrale from glasitalia feels best when given a little space around it.

Longevity

This is a piece built around a single, strong idea and a straightforward construction. With no complex mechanisms and no decorative add-ons to date quickly, it holds its place over time. Quick ship is available for MAE01 and MAE02 in extralight mirror or blue.
