About Etrusco

Design

Etrusco is a mirror unit by Ettore Sottsass that brings his graphic instinct into a clean, architectural format. The silhouette is tall and deliberate, with a strong frame that reads like a piece of furniture, not an afterthought on the wall. It has presence, but it stays composed.

The proportions feel considered at every angle. And the detailing is clear, not busy. This is a mirror that frames the room as much as it frames a reflection.

Materials & build

The main surface is crystal mirror, set within an Alpi veneer frame. The shelf and base are made in aniline-varnished wood, keeping the grain and tone honest rather than overly sealed. Goldplated cylindrical elements punctuate the construction and add a measured shine without turning the piece into a spectacle.

Each unit is identified by a progressive numbering. It’s a small touch, but it changes how the object is read: less like a generic accessory, more like a documented piece in a series. Etrusco is not available custom made, which keeps the design intact as intended.

Everyday use

As a mirror, it’s straightforward and satisfying. The crystal surface gives a clear view, and the scale supports a full-length read without effort. The integrated shelf offers a practical pause point for the daily routine. But it doesn’t try to do too much; it stays focused on what matters.

The base brings visual weight and a sense of stability. And the metal cylinders add a quiet contrast when the light shifts, especially in the morning or late afternoon.

Placement & lifestyle

With overall dimensions of approximately 47.2 inches wide, 17.7 inches deep, and 80.7 inches high, the piece suits entryways, dressing areas, and larger bedrooms where a freestanding mirror can act as a vertical anchor. It can also sit comfortably in a living space as a reflective element that opens up sightlines.

It pairs well with both restrained interiors and more expressive rooms. The veneer and goldplated details give it enough character to stand alone, yet it won’t fight surrounding materials.

Longevity

Built with real wood surfaces, veneer, and plated metal, this mirror is meant to age with use, not be replaced in a few seasons. The aniline-varnished finish is chosen for its natural look, so careful handling matters. A soft approach to cleaning and everyday contact keeps it looking sharp.

Glasitalia’s Etrusco reads as a long-term piece: numbered, precise, and consistent to the original design. And that consistency is part of the appeal.
