About Metal
Design
Metal is a series of tables and consoles by Piero Lissoni, drawn with a clear sense of restraint. The silhouette is simple: a thin, transparent top floating over precise cylindrical legs. And that’s the point. The piece doesn’t compete with the room, it edits it.
The proportions stay crisp across formats, from long rectangular tables to round and square options. The glass reads almost weightless, while the legs add just enough structure to keep the whole composition sharp and intentional.
Materials & build
Each top is made from 0.75-inch-thick transparent extralight tempered glass. It’s clear, bright, and keeps the table visually quiet. Underneath, the cylindrical feet measure about 2 inches in diameter and come in brushed aluminum anodized inox or a dark brown finish.
The legs are fixed to plates that are glued to the underside of the glass top. It’s a clean solution that keeps hardware out of sight and lets the materials do the talking. glasitalia also offers custom-made options for projects that need a specific fit.
Comfort in use
This collection is comfortable in the way good tables should be: easy to live around. The transparent top opens up sightlines, so larger sizes feel lighter in the room. But the structure still reads solid, thanks to the repeated rhythm of the cylindrical feet.
Edges and details stay minimal, which helps the table work with different chair styles and different rooms without feeling fussy.
Placement & lifestyle
Metal shifts naturally between settings. There are dining-height pieces at roughly 28.35 inches high, and lower versions around 11.81 inches high for lounge areas. Sizes range broadly, from compact surfaces around 47.24 inches to statement lengths up to about 137.80 inches. Narrow console-like proportions are also available, starting near 13.78 inches deep.
Round tops run from approximately 43.31 to 66.93 inches in diameter, and square options extend up to about 62.99 inches per side. It’s a toolkit for dining rooms, meeting spaces, and living areas, without changing the language of the design.
Longevity
The tempered glass top is built for daily use, and the anodized aluminum legs are made to stay consistent over time. Finishes are understated and resilient, which helps the table age quietly rather than show every moment.
Because the design stays so reduced, it doesn’t date quickly. Metal by glasitalia is the kind of piece that can move homes, move roles, and still look right.
