Collector

About Collector

Design

Collector is a quiet statement from Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby. The line is crisp and architectural, but it never feels severe. Transparent extralight glass keeps the volume light, while the curved sides soften the edges and make the proportions feel considered.

The silhouette stays consistent across the collection, with variations that shift it from low table to display unit. The look is understated. And it reads differently depending on what is placed inside or on top, which is part of the point.

Materials & Build

The sides and top are made from 8 mm transparent extralight glass. The sides are curved to follow the shape of the top, then attached so the whole piece feels continuous, not assembled. It’s clean work, with the structure kept visibly simple.

Underneath, the base is solid open-pore ash finished in black lacquer. Display units are supplied with black anodized aluminum hardware and an internal shelf. The low tables add a flush recessed mirror at the base, a subtle detail that changes the way light moves through the glass.

Comfort, Use, and Daily Ease

This is not a table that asks to be babied, but it does encourage a certain order. The transparency keeps clutter in check. And the storage elements are straightforward: low tables use two sliding front parts, while the display units include doors for a cleaner front.

Heights are practical. The low tables sit at about 13.4 inches high, while the taller display units rise to about 33.5 inches or 47.2 inches, depending on the model. Everything is easy to read at a glance, which makes the piece feel calm in use.

Placement and Lifestyle

Collector works best where it can be seen from more than one angle. In a living room, the low versions feel light on the floor and pair easily with deep seating. In an entry or along a dining wall, the display units bring storage without visual weight.

Sizes include approximately 51.2 by 27.6 inches, 43.3 by 43.3 inches, and 47.2 by 15.7 inches, with heights ranging from 13.4 to 47.2 inches. The palette is tight: clear glass, black base, black hardware. It makes styling simple.

Longevity

Collector by Glas Italia is built around materials that hold their look over time: glass that stays bright, a black lacquered ash base that reads rich, and anodized aluminum hardware that resists everyday wear. It is not available custom made, which keeps the collection consistent and precise.

In the long run, the appeal is in the restraint. No extra details to date it. Just a well-resolved piece that continues to feel relevant as rooms evolve.
