About Deep Sea
Design
Deep Sea is a small collection by Nendo that treats glass like architecture. The shapes stay clean and quiet, but the rhythm is the point: vertical elements repeat, then tighten as the eye moves across the piece. And with that shift, the color deepens. It reads almost like a gradient built from structure, not surface.
The effect is especially clear on the low tables, where the upright panels set a measured cadence, and on the bookcase, where the shelves become part of the same visual sequence. It’s a composed look, but not precious. Deep Sea still feels easy to live with.
Materials & build
glasitalia makes Deep Sea in laminated, thermo-welded transparent extralight glass. That choice keeps the volume crisp while letting light pass through without the green tint that can dull clear glass. The colored parts are also transparent glass, offered in grey or blue tones.
As the spacing between elements decreases, the color intensity increases. It’s a simple idea, but it changes how the piece sits in a room. The mirror bases add another layer, catching the colored glass and sending it back into the space as reflections rather than solid mass.
Daily use and feel
These pieces are designed to look light, but they don’t disappear. The mirror base anchors them visually, while the glass structure keeps sightlines open. On the low tables, the top surface stays clear and practical, with the vertical panels adding definition without turning the table into a sculpture that can’t be used.
The bookcase keeps the same restraint. The transparency helps books and objects feel curated, not crowded. But it can also hold its own with very little styling, because the color and spacing already do some of the work.
Placement and lifestyle
Deep Sea suits rooms where light matters: near windows, beside a sofa, or in spaces that need a refined focal point without heaviness. The collection includes sizes such as 29.5 in × 29.5 in × 14.6 in and 49.2 in × 18.9 in × 14.6 in for low tables, plus a taller piece at 29.5 in × 13.8 in × 59.4 in.
The palette stays controlled, so it pairs well with warm woods, lacquered finishes, or soft textiles. And because the glass is transparent, it plays nicely with bold rugs and art instead of fighting them.
Longevity
Because it relies on glass, spacing, and reflection rather than hardware or fashion details, Deep Sea holds up visually over time. It’s not available custom made, which keeps the design consistent with what Nendo intended for glasitalia.
With glass, care is straightforward: keep surfaces clean to preserve clarity and let the mirrored base do its job. When it’s maintained, the depth and color stay sharp, and the piece keeps that distinctive sense of layered light.
