Prism Glass Chair

About Prism Glass Chair

Design

Prism Glass Chair takes a clear idea and pushes it to a sharp, graphic finish. Designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, the form reads as a compact lounge chair with crisp planes and clean edges, almost like a line drawing made solid. It stays quiet in a room, but the geometry keeps it from disappearing.

Light moves across it in a way that feels intentional. The bevelled detailing catches highlights, then throws them back as soft reflections and quick refractions. And because the chair is fully transparent, it shifts with its surroundings rather than fighting them.

Materials & build

Made in transparent extralight glass at 19 mm thickness, the piece is tempered and thermowelded for strength. The build is precise, with joints and transitions that look seamless from most angles. The special bevelling is not a decorative afterthought; it’s part of how the chair holds attention without adding visual weight.

This is a fixed design and it is not available custom made. What is offered is the exact object as intended: a small armchair that leans on clarity, proportion, and a very controlled finish.

Comfort

As glass seating goes, the Prism Glass Chair is surprisingly confident. The seat has considerable weight bearing capacity despite the extreme lightness of the form, so it feels stable once in place. Comfort here is about posture and presence more than softness. It supports a composed sit, the kind that suits conversation, reading, or a short pause between moments.

Placement & lifestyle

With dimensions of about 22.4 in by 22.4 in and a height of 27.6 in, it works well where a standard lounge chair would feel heavy. It can sit beside a sofa without blocking sightlines, or be used as a standalone accent in an entry or bedroom corner. But it also holds its own in a gallery-like living space where every object is chosen carefully.

From glasitalia, the Prism Glass Chair is at its best when there’s light to play with and a bit of breathing room around it. Pair it with textured textiles nearby, or place it against a darker backdrop to make the edges and bevels read even more clearly.

Longevity

Tempered glass is chosen for a reason: it’s built for daily life, not just display. The chair’s clarity also helps it age well visually, since it won’t compete with future changes in color or décor. It stays relevant by staying exacting. And when the room evolves, the Prism Glass Chair simply adapts.
