Fragment paravento

About Fragment paravento

Design

Fragment paravento is a screen that plays with perception in a way that feels precise, not theatrical. The surface is a double-sided mirror finished with a checked decoration. Two crystals, each checked in a perpendicular direction, sit within the same frame and create a layered view that shifts as someone moves around it.

Reflections don’t read as a single, clean image. They overlap, break, and reappear. Objects behind the screen can look as if they’re in front of it, and the reflected room can feel partially screened. It’s a quiet visual trick, and it stays interesting without needing attention all day.

Materials & Build

The structure is built around a double-sided frame in polished brushed aluminum. The checked crystals are applied to this frame and separated by a small gap, giving the mirror depth and a slightly floating look. Everything about the construction feels intentional: crisp edges, clear joins, and a finish that reads modern without being cold.

The screen is made of hinged modular panels, so it can open, fold, and angle with control. And it’s worth noting that it isn’t available custom made, so the proportions and detailing are exactly as designed by Nendo.

Comfort, Privacy, and Light

As a paravento, it offers separation without shutting a room down. The double-sided mirror keeps spaces feeling open, while the checked pattern and layered crystals soften what’s being shown. It doesn’t block light like an opaque divider would. But it also doesn’t leave everything exposed.

There’s a nice balance to it. The screen creates privacy in a way that still feels social, especially in rooms where people move between seating, dining, and entry areas.

Placement & Lifestyle

In the FRA04 configuration, Fragment paravento measures about 34.3 inches long, 2.0 inches wide, and 74.4 inches high. It’s tall enough to define a zone, yet slim enough to keep circulation easy. The hinged panels make it practical in everyday use, not just as a static statement.

It suits spaces where the view matters: across a corridor, behind a sofa, near a dressing area, or as a refined way to frame an entrance. Used thoughtfully, it becomes part of how a room works, not just how it looks.

Longevity

Mirror and aluminum are materials that hold their presence over time, and the finish here is meant to be lived with. The modular, hinged build also helps. It can adapt as a room changes, instead of forcing a single layout forever.

Fragment paravento from glasitalia is less about decorating and more about adjusting the room with one object. That kind of flexibility tends to age well.
