About Sherazade Swing Plain
Design
Sherazade Swing Plain is a custom swing door by Piero Lissoni, drawn with a clear goal: let the wall read as uninterrupted. The panel sits flush, with a concealed frame that keeps the outline crisp and quiet. It’s a clean look, but not cold. The detail work is what gives it presence, especially when light hits the glass and edges sharpen up.
It comes as a single door or a double door version. And either way, the intent stays the same: a precise, architectural plane that integrates rather than interrupts.
Materials & build
The door is made in tempered glass, either monolithic at about 0.24 inches thick or laminated 3+3 mm, also about 0.24 inches overall. The glass is set into an aluminum frame using a seal, so the connection is controlled and consistent. There’s a wide range of glass finishes available, from transparent extralight to acid-etched options, patterned textures, fluted versions, lacquered surfaces in glossy or opaque, and reflective glass in both acid-etched and transparent finishes. Not every finish is offered for every configuration, and that’s part of the system’s discipline.
The subframe is pickled aluminum and stays invisible once the door is closed. It works for cement and plasterboard walls and can be varnished during wall painting, so the installation doesn’t fight the room’s final finish.
Comfort in daily use
This is a swing door, so the feel matters. The hinges use an adjustable pivot, allowing fine tuning after installation for a swing that feels settled. The door can be specified with different lock types: without block, with cylinder, or with a revolving plug. Handle or knob is available, supplied in the same finish as the frame, so the touchpoints match what the eye sees.
Placement and lifestyle
Because the frame is concealed and the panel sits flush, Sherazade Swing Plain works best where a room needs calm transitions: corridors, suites, dressing areas, private offices. In a glazed finish it can keep spaces visually connected. In acid-etched or patterned glass it can soften views without closing a room down.
Glasitalia keeps the aesthetic restrained, which makes it easy to pair with bold stone, warm woods, or minimal plaster walls without the door feeling like an add-on.
Longevity and compliance
The glass options are certified to safety regulations ANSI Z97.1 and UNI ENI 2150, with the noted exception of finish 533 armato. And the full handle set is treated with a sanitizing varnish tested to ISO 22196:2011, designed to counteract bacterial overgrowth and keep high-touch surfaces cleaner over time. It’s a practical detail, quietly built in, and it suits a door meant to be used every day.
